Country music became such a big thing in the 70s like its forefathers could have never imagined, with its own superstars and their million-selling hits that often crossed over to the Pop and Adult Contemporary charts. This disc attempts to cover what falls under the umbrella Country Pop in the 70s up to the early 80s. The Nashville Sound (or 'Countrypolitan') developed into a slicker form and took more elements of contemporary Pop and R&B. In 1980, a movie was released that gave the name to the Urban Cowboy trend/style which once again brought the music uptown. By then however, Nashville was already recognized as the force it holds to this day.
